April 27, 2021 Reflection

Today in class we talked about the Propaganda Matriz and the 5 filters. I learned that there were several factors that companies required when releasing an article on a topic. The one that stood out to me was the first component, where the ownership of the company would greatly influence the stories that the press would release. This is because I felt that the people who should be the most honest in releasing reliable information to the public were being swayed by the choices of one or few people. The third and fourth components were also ones that were really important. The reason why I thought so was that Mr. Paterson told us that they were more prominent in Japan. Things like the Kisha Club and Dentsu information made me skeptical of Japanese new organizations. I would like to find out how these networks are linked with each other and be able to take in more information from different companies to gain a more wide perspective on a certain topic.
