LE Reflection Blog

Sorry for not posting on time, I forgot to publish the blog. We did not do much in today's class, as a lot of it was a review of the things we had to do in our presentation. Even though, there was not much new things, it was refreshing to hear the things we had to do. One top of that we saw and example of a good presentation. When I watched the presentation, some things that she emphasized on were different from the things I focused on. I would like to change some things with the amount of time we have.  One thing I am unsure about is about the summary. In my presentation I summarized the whole book, but after thinking about it later, I was wondering if the summary can just be the plot, setting and character. This would allow it to be short but may miss some of the problems and character change in the story.

Today we were introduced to you tuber who analysis books in an unique way.  He is able to blend two things that may seem very bipolar. I liked his style of analyzing because how easy it is to understand and how it is very organized. Throughout his videos it was apparent that he used the same format in all of his videos. I think that this is one thing makes the video so easy to watch. Being able to know what he is going to talk about and when he is going to, it allows us to find what we seek and if he doesn't have what we are looking for, we can easily find a different. Not only was it organized and easy to watch it was also just fun to watch a unique style of presentation.  Today was also the last day of LE for the separated class. One thing I did find a little disappointing is how we were not able to work in groups. Today was our first real day for class. One thing I learned in today's class is the Pecha Kucha presentation style. When I thought of a presentation, I think of a boring long speech about a certain topic, but after being intorduced to these different types of presentation, it allowed me to realise that not all types of presentations have to be boring. Being able to present something fast will not just make it fun for the veiwers but will also allow other people to present their ideas and thoughts.

In the first page we are introduced to the the two main characters of the story. One with a "fair hair boy" and another chubby kid with glasses with asthma. They are near a lagoon in which the setting is set for the chapter. The Chubby kid asked the fair hair boy for his name and he states that his name is Ralph. The chubby boy though insisted not to be called piggy was called piggy and was referenced as piggy by Ralph. As they try to investigate the current situation they are in, they find a conch at the bottom of the lagoon. Thinking that they are the only ones on this land they blow on the conch which calls the other members on the land. After introducing the members to Piggy and Ralph they are introduced to Jack, who was the oldest and strongest of the kids. Now with Ralph in charge with the conch they start a meeting about their current situation. They say that they are on an island and that there are no adults to help them. We finished the essay today and the class started to check with the teacher one by one. I was not called today so, I checked my essay and made sure that I didn't have any mistakes on my essay. One thing that I found hard checking was the things I weren't sure of. For example, on the citation in the text, I thought I had to put the year along with the family name but after fact checking with classmates and the internet, I learned that that was not needed. There was not a lot more to do in class. 

We did not do much in today's class. The teacher told me that I would need to split my hard drive to get it on my Chromebook, but he did not advise this. At home I would like to try it with my parents Mac book. 

Today we learned how to use Zotero. Yesterday I din't know how to download Zotero and so I e-mailed the teacher to check if it is possible. Zotero is an convenient app to help with the citing with the essay. What I thought was a great feature was the fact that this can be used with many different types of sources. For example from Google books, Amazon, Websites, and articles. This was good because not all types of sources have the same thing written on them on the cite. This app will allow it to differentiate the different sources.
